“This is not the end, this is the beginning…”

Today was my last day with the client I’ve been working with for the past 10 months. Can’t help but feel emotional leaving them. They’re such great individuals & the team I’ve been part of has been amazing, in so many ways.

From always considering our customers & users first when building our features, to always helping, supporting and pushing each other to be and do better and finally to consistently delivering value in time that’s recognised across the organisation — it’s easily been one of the best, most cohesive and effective teams I have been part of.

I really wish they understand and appreciate that.

Today is also the last day in my position as a consultant. And frankly, I am sad. I will be leaving ThoughtWorks next week, the most transparent organisation I know and have heard of. This company is a community of some of the most passionate, knowledgeable & driven people I’ve ever met. It has profoundly shaped me and my view of the world. And for that I will be forever grateful.

Simply put, I don’t know of an organisation who fosters & enables people to discuss, ideate & contribute so openly on issues they care about: social justice, diversity AND inclusion, climate change, workers rights, equity and equality, and of course, technology. The folks here are amazing. And the hive mind inside is mind-blowing.

I am and I will always be proud to have been a ThoughtWorker. This is where I’ve learned to understand, recognise and use my privilege to help others.

Frankly, I can’t speak highly enough of ThoughtWorks. And this is not to say it’s perfect, because it’s not, and it’s also probably not for everybody. But it’s as damn good as it gets. And one day I hope to be a boomerang.

Finally, I just want to say a big thank you to all the amazing people and friends I have made in ThoughtWorks. I hope you know who you are. Hopefully I have reached out to you individually.

Some of you have fundamentally changed my life, some of you have made it easier to come into work at times. Thank you.

Starting later this month I’m excited to be joining Booking.com‘s Mobile Apps team in Manchester as a Senior Developer. I’m extremely privileged to be able to make the change during this pandemic, so I’m looking forward to starting to work in the mobile development field and supporting my team.

And as an amazing team member said in her thank you note… this is not the end, this is the beginning…
